YEARS SURFING: 16years - I got my first ‘foamy’ when I was the ‘ripe’ young age of 6yrs.
WHERE DID YOU FIRST LEARN TO SURF?
I first learnt to surf on the local beach, straight out from my house
WHO OR WHAT FIRST INFLUENCED YOU TO START SURFING?
I’m the youngest of ‘six boys’, who all surfed competitively at some stage in their lives. As I was growing up having them pushing boards at me ‘left right n center’, trying to keep me from riding a bodyboard (which had been heavily influenced in the local area). So yeah; ‘my brothers’ as well as all the local shredders The NewyCrew boys etc. Anyone who has a passion for surfing.....
DID YOU BEGIN ON A SHORTBOARD?
I did start by surfing a short board, it wasn’t until 2001 after I had a terrible car accident, which left me in a ‘coma’ that I found myself picking up a longboard. From then on with Golden Breed’s help and my love for the ocean, and the will to live I haven’t looked back once.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN THE BYRON SHIRE AREA?
I’ve lived in the Byron shire all my life, and still in the same house. Stoked!!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH THE BRUNSWICK BOARDRIDERS CLUB?
As this club is new and due to me being away traveling, Coaching etc. I have been planning to work with the Bruns Boardriders for while. It’s only now I’m slowing my involvement with Surfing Queensland and Surfing Australia that I’m able to work with some of the local organizations and Clubs.
COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR PAST COMPETITIVE SURFING?
I started competitive surfing when I was about 12yrs old with the Newy Crew (new Brighton boardriders) Having lived at New Brighton, I have surfed with the “fringe Dwellers” After living on the sunshine coast for the last year being a surf coach. I was able to surf for The Alexandra Headland Mal Club, which was totally different for me coming from on the beach at New Brighton.
MOST MEMORABLE SURF SESSION?

MEMORABLE SURFING INCIDENT?
My most memorable surf session would have to be participating in coaching the “CADS” program, on behalf of Surfing Australia working with people with physical and mental disabilities.
